"Phi Day The 13th" was performed for a live audience using Ableton and Launch Control at the 1st birthday celebration of Barnacle Records, Aug. 13 2016. Background information about the title: Phi, also known as the Golden Ratio, is an amazing irrational number whose decimal equivalent is 0.618033988... The Venus Pentagram is but one shining example of Phi. Unfortunately, "Phi Day" is commonly celebrated on 6/18 (June 18) when it really ought to be celebrated on Aug 14 (on non-leap years), since 0.618 * 365 = 226 and Aug 14 is the 226th day of the year. This year is a leap year, so 0.618 * 366 = 266 = Aug 13. Therefore, this recording happened on the REAL PHI DAY. Q.E.D.
